Background to the role:

Trócaire seeks a full-time Project Assistant to support the management and implementation of a project that supports Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Zimbabwe. As a member of the Project Team, the post-holder will provide assistance on the implementation of the project, and engage with the consortium partners, donors, and other stakeholders. Additionally, the post-holder will assist with the grant management processes, ensuring compliance with donor contractual requirements, and similarly between Trocaire and the implementing partners.

Contract type: Fixed Term

Location: Harare, with frequent travel within Zimbabwe

Scope of the role:

This project is specifically designed to provide technical assistance and capacity strengthening to eleven (11) civil society organisations in Zimbabwe. The project will give priority to advancing Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) guided by the project GESI strategy across all project activities and partnership approaches. The post-holder will support grant management, ensuring compliance with donor contractual requirements, integrating Feedback and Complaints Handling Mechanisms (FHCM) and similarly between Trocaire and the implementing partners.

Key duties amp; responsibilities

Provide assistance in the execution of the following tasks:

1. Project Implementation

  • Development of consortium annual work plans.
  • Organizing, planning, and implementing Trócaire-led activities within the consortium.
  • Providing need-informed technical support to consortium partners in line with the Trócaire partnership and localisation agenda.

2. Project Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL)

  • Consolidation of monthly reports, project activity and project narrative reports.
  • Supporting documentation of project results and lessons.
  • Facilitating learning and exchange activities within the consortium.
  • Provision of tailor-made technical support and capacity strengthening on MEL.
  • Organising and planning for the project internal reflection events with Trócaire staff, donors and the implementing partners.

3. Project Finance Management

  • Participate in annual project budgeting and reviewing partner budgets and work plans.
  • Budget trackingand tracking implementation of the work plans.
  • Assisting in the disbursement of funds to the implementing partners.

4. Integrating Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)

  • Following up with partners on the implementation of GESI work plans.
  • Accompanying consortium partners on GESI integration.
  • Leading the implementation and integration of women empowerment activities within the consortium.

5. Feedback and Complaints Handling Mechanisms (FCHM)

  • Supporting partners to implement FCHMs, including reporting to Trocaire.

6. Managing project information and documentation

  • Updating project documents on Salesforce and Box.

Requirements

Experience

  • University qualifications in Human Rights, Peacebuilding, Development Studies, International Relations, Law, or any other relevant social science degree. Masters will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in human rights programming, civil society capacity strengthening and project cycle management.
  • An understanding of the role of legal aid, medical support, human rights monitoring, civic engagement, and women empowerment.
  • Qualification in Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage.
  • Proven experience in managing institutional funding.
  • Demonstrate skills in report writing and documentation.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and conflict management.
  • Understanding of partnership and consortium management.
  • Skilled in Excel, word, Salesforce, Box, CommCare, and any other digital data collection tools.
